My Practice

Sonja is now retired.  She has a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Education. She taught third grade immediately after graduation in 1974 in Chattanooga, TN.  After many years of teaching, her interests led her in the field of Chinese Medicine.  She gained Certification in TuiNa Asian Bodywork in 2004 and graduated with a Master’s Degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine the following year from ASAOM (Arizona School of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine), Tucson, AZ, and has since been in practice. Sonja has a passion for using natural healing modalities, as first-line prevention, and takes a supportive integrated approach when the use of drugs or surgery becomes necessary.  Sonja is Certified with NADA as an Acupuncture Detoxification Specialist, to support patients during treatment for addictions, support during and after chemotherapy, support during counseling therapy and support with PTSD. In addition, Sonja apprenticed with Dr. Joyce Fields-Basehart, a renowned chiropractor, Claremont, CA., and has over 35 years’ experience using an Activator, however, in keeping within her scope of practice, Sonja has pioneered its use, on Acupuncture and Ahshi points instead.  Sonja currently holds membership in good standing with the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) since 2005.
